Custom Cut Baskets

Our Custom Cut Baskets are very unique handmade wooden baskets. Each basket is made from the same premium lumber that we have air and kiln dried on premises for our line of furniture products. We use local hardwoods such as red oak, cherry, ash, elm, walnut, and occasionally we obtain a few exotic woods to accent the baskets. Because we use premium lumber instead of cane or splits, each basket displays a lovely grain pattern, adding unique character to each individual piece.

The weavers of the baskets are not soaked or steamed, but are hand cut into the shapes needed to be woven. After the weavers are cut, each basket is carefully assembled in stages, at times, taking up to four days to complete. After assembly, they undergo a comprehensive quality control inspection. Only after passing are they then hand-signed and dated on the base, noting the types of lumber used. The final stage consists of applying two coats of polyurethane to protect them from dust and moisture.

We have named the baskets using names that indicate how they are often used. They certainly can be used for many other purposes. The roll, fruit and breadbaskets are all interchangeable. The smaller baskets could be used as ‘clutter containers’ on coffee tables dressers and kitchen counters, the larger ones for magazines. Any of these lovely baskets could be filled with dried flowers, wooden apples, potpourri or scented soaps for use as centerpieces. We have found in our own home that if you put one out, it will soon be filled with something. Of course, they all make wonderful gifts.
